What do I need to bring to my surf lesson?

Please bring sunscreen, a towel, water, and a positive attitude! We provide the surfboard, wetsuit (if needed), and all other necessary equipment.
How early should I arrive?

Parking, especially on weekends can be a challenge, so allow yourself at least 15 minutes before class to ensure a parking spot
When is the best time for a surf lesson? Morning or afternoon?

Mornings usually have the best conditions. Afternoons can be fun too, but sometimes the afternoon winds tend to pick up, although this can change throughout the day. We are at the mercy of Mother Nature. We regularly check incoming swells, winds, and tides to determine optimal conditions for your skill level. Our staff will contact you 24 hours before your scheduled lesson if the weather or other conditions are unfavorable.
What is the water temperature like?

During summer, the water temp is nice and warm, around 77-81F. Wetsuits are unneccesary at this point. Most of our students wear a bathing suit and rash guard.
Are there stores and restaurants in the area?

Yes and yes! Flagler beach is known for all it's local boutique shops. There are also many delicious restaurants within walking distance. Some of our favorites include Breakaways (they have amazing poke bowls and fish tacos!), and the Funky Pelican on the pier.
Is Flagler Beach good for surfing?

Yes, when looking for the best surf in Florida, Flagler beach and Saint Augustine have some of the best surf around. Flagler beach is home to the third best waves for surfing in the entire state.
Do I need prior surfing experience to take lessons at Flagler Surf School?

No experience is required to take lessons at Flagler Surf School! We offer comprehensive surfing lessons tailored for complete beginners to intermediate surfers. Our skilled instructors ensure a safe and enjoyable learning experience, regardless of your prior surfing knowledge. For those seeking more advanced coaching, we also provide advanced lessons upon request, subject to availability. Whether you're catching your first wave or looking to refine your skills, Flagler Surf School has the right program for you.
